Bio:
Robert—better known as Test Prep Dad—is on a mission to craft lessons that fit each student’s unique needs. Armed with creativity, humor, and a trusty fanny pack of academic tricks, his teaching style has been called warm, playful, and full of surprises. Always ready to embrace technology, he’s created over 300 video lessons on his YouTube channel, Robert Teaches English, which now boasts over 25,000 subscribers. Robert believes that every student has the power to tackle academic obstacles like a true hero, and he’s dedicated to finding the perfect strategy to help each one succeed. When Robert isn’t saving the day for his students, he’s being a hero at home—playing with his daughter, cooking up something delicious, snuggling with his cat, or making music on one of his many instruments.
Education and Experience:
Robert earned his academic cape with a 4.0 GPA from the University of San Diego, completing a Master’s degree in Education with a specialized TESOL certificate. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Humboldt State University. With over 10 years of experience, he’s worked in a variety of settings—two years as an in-class tutor for Math and English, five years working one-on-one with students from China, and even teaching reading classes to all ages at the Institute of Reading Development. He’s also taken his superhero skills abroad, spending a semester teaching Academic Writing and Presentation Skills at Ubon Ratchathani University in Thailand.
